About Scottish Author and Illustrator Mandy Elizabeth Rush

Mandy is a Scottish lass who now lives in Nairn, on Scotland’s Sunshine Coast.

Mandy reads her books at the Ness Book Fest. Read all about it here.

She walks by the ocean daily, from her 12 years in Melvaig, Wester Ross, to the six miles of beaches which Nairn offers, the magic of the Scottish Highlands are a great source of inspiration for her books.

Drawing and Art were Mandy’s passions before she even knew what a ‘passion’ meant. Never happier than when she had paper and colouring pens and solitude.

Not comfortable speaking on the phone, Mandy prefers to write, whether it is a letter, an email or a blog. Mandy’s storytelling is written down on something.

Mandy‘s other passion is photography and she has been taking photos for over 30 years. Mandy’s photo, Diamonds at Dawn, was selected for the BBC Countryfile Calendar of 2012, helping to raise millions for charity.

She has traveled extensively throughout the world and has lived in Kenya, Germany and Central America. Mandy has written a travel blog which describe many of her amazing travels.

Mandy sometimes does videos of her drawing as the develop. The one below is of her wee ginger German cat. The series ‘Timmy Cat Tales’ is in development.

In her spare time Mandy makes traditioanl handmade Scottish Clootie Dumplings which are available from MaClootie Premium Scottish Clootie Dumplings.
